least they didn't shoot the poor guy like they did that Kiwi tourist in Argentina recently or beat the stuffing out of him like the two German tourists got down south in January....we have much more civilised thieves and armed robbers in the Bay.
....wherezz that track go
Popped over the Taihape road today, gave heated gloves and new boots a good try out.
Couple of pearler all day ice patches in several of the cuttings as expected but through with no dramas.
Bit of loose chip about Hastings side around Sherenden and Downers were up on other side of Annie doing some kind of repair leaving a combo of clay/lime? and ice on the road.
Well I was reasonable warm given the conditions so the gear got the seal of approval, must be MMMMM ride time soon???
Went for a small jaunt yesterday in the drizzle. . . Kaiwaka Rd, Darkie Spur, Waipuna Rd. Couldn't head towards the Mohaka from Tutira as a car rally was on. Then headed out Puketitiri for a hot soak in Mangatutu Hot SpringsWas lovely as finger tips were very chilly
Might need some of those heated gloves Raymond.
Small jaunt? sounds like a reasonable ride. Will give Boundry stream road a miss for awhile then, last year the rally cars carved it up pretty good.
Heated gloves are great, even if everyone likes to joke about them. Only trouble is you notice the next most coldest parts of riding gear more.
Will have to bring a battery to hook em up while we all Kart racing ;p
Great to see a few of the hb riders experiencing the enjoyment of going solo. I get my licence back soon, so looking fwd to getting out there. By coincidence, xrjny went to the hotpools too. You must have only just missed him. A challenging ride, great on a 200.
Comforting to see some of the older riders discovering the benefits of electrcity to keep warm. . . remembering l have had an uncopied soluton for electric foot heating for nearly a decade now ! . . . strategically placed heated pools not being a common feature.
Enquiries welcome :-))
I got out and about today. Weather was pretty shit towards the end, but good to go for a ride anyway. I'll put up some photos when time.
The cheek of you young folk these days, my grey hairs are all fake, just dye it for the cheap bus fares
Still getting to grips with all this new fangled electrical trickery, only switched because me steel buckets of embers from my traction engine hung under the handlebars were deemed by the constabulary to be a fire hazard.
Did 882 kms of back roads, Forestry and farms on Sat and Sun Nth and East of Taupo courtesy of NGARNZ. Nice to have toasty hands at the push of a button. Whoever designed heated grips deserves a medalVery welcome going through the Motu and around the Waikaremoana/Minganui area, got a tad chilly in those areas.
COP, "Ive been waiting to catch you all day"
BIKER "Sorry officer, I got here as fast as I could"
Whittle road/Kaweka rd and Lotkow road clean as at the moment, you could take a road bike up there easy... Just watch out for the petrol spill on Lotkow where someone tipped their DR650 upside down![]()

One mustn't get cocky with J turns when playing on creek crossings...
I'd post a pic but Flikr/Yahoo wants my phone number and they aint ferkin getn it... Only privileged people get that like the Pizza delivery Co and ADV riders![]()
Sounds like fun....

The DR seems to shrug it off as another say at the office engine still running. Getting pretty slick at the upright procedure: Kill switch, sidestand flick and reverse heave lift...
Plus side of crashing was stopping to admire the big giant wet figure eight all my creek passes had left on the track
