To start with, just been on the phone to the manager of Te Apiti stn, No probs with us riding through from Waimarama to kairakau but only in the Summer as its clay tracks and very greasy most of the winter. he said to make contact later in the year and it wont be a problem. Definitly a plan.

Option one for me too this time of the year.

Option one sounds good, any experimental missions around Minginui always good too.

Ferry booked, be in Taradale on the Friday night at some stage. Hope the weather is fine cos I hate riding in the rain.

How do I find route 52? have no GPS, just a big fuel tank.

    Looking forward to catching up.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Route 52??, is this to get to Taradale on the Friday night? if it is then your thinkin of HW 50 but if your going to be riding in the darkyness, best to stay on HW 2 all the way, Follow the signs to Napier and turn off to Taradale from the motorway. Im in Waipukurau which HW 2 runs through in Central HB and your welcome to stop for a coffee on the way but one of the locals up in the Hastings/Napier area will prob give you a number to call in case you get ummm, geopraphicly embaressed on the way.

the best route for route52 is via Masterton and comes out in Porangahu then off to Waipukarau but you'd prolly need a map at least to navigate it. Excellent road for biking; you'd need to allow an addtional 2 hrs if ya going that way- at least. If you confirm thats the road you wanna take I will post up some directions to get ya to taradale or SHW50 as per Rossco's sagely advice above. Looking forward to catching up...we have ordered fine weahter for the 25th....so prepare for rain

He should be good, Padmei's not with him.

Although I do remember a group of us at the bottom of a firebreak, waiting for him to come back down, for half an hour

What time is the ferry. 52 is an awesome road...but there are a few extra bits off it that are worth a look if time.

Ferry gets in at about Midday. if the weather is dodgy I will just head up through the wairarapa, maybe turn off at Pahiatua (where all the great people were born) and do the summit? road maybe. all weather dependant at this stage. If its pissing down I am just gonna get their as quick as possible.
