Keeping hydrated is going to be a biggy, especially if its a warm day, The riding will be as technical as you want to make it,
Armour will not be required,(optional) just a good helmet and boots. A lot of it will be in 1st or 2nd gear, some river flats but most is rolling to steep. Rough tracks, many are partly overgrown with Manuka so branch dodging is part of the deal.
if the the water in the creeks is clear, its drinkable plus there are a couple of big springs with lovely cool water.

I've been looking forward to this ride ever since flogging myself to near death exhaustion wrestling the 690 over those tracks....this time I'm bringing the right tool for the Job! ...and a 3 litre camelback

I'd love to but I've only got a black sea elephant so I'll go ride the Beta instead

Went for a wander up Willowflat and related areas... now in need of new rear tyre before anymore riding...
Anyone got contact for Te Hoe station, could make for interesting ride, spot on map marked as Te Kooti's lookout...

Nice pic and the bike is looking good is that a new tank ? i've been talking to a farmer further over near SH5 on the Mohaka so will go do some fishing and check out and see if he has any good tracks. Been travelling the Taupo road a bit lately and there looks like some interesting side routes to explore for the summer.

Yep got the Acerbis 20L, good fit, just had to move indicators slightly. So much better not having to muck around with extra fuel.
Yeah lots of interesting routes around there if we can get access...

theres an awesome spot up the Napier Taupo called frost flat that a mate at work told me about. He goes camping and 4wd in there, its basically a giant loop with spectacular riding and is open to public...definitely want to check it out this summer. Day trip or maybe even camp out Daniel Boon style
