On his way home from a ride today, Marty hit a sheep on Middle road and is currently in Hastings Hosp ICU, Robyn is keeping in contact with Sue and will let me know when he is out of ICU and in a ward, Will post more details as they come to hand, We wish him all the best and hope for a full and speedy recovery.

Marty had a good ride today up Takapari Rd with us Welly riders. To hear that he has had an accident on the way home is not a great postscript to the day. Pass on our regards to Sue. I hope he is out to the ward soon. Steve

Likewise Marty it was good to meet you. How ironic that in the Bridge Cafe we talked about running into livestock. Hope you recover quickly. We'll all be watching your progress.

    Cheers

That wasn't us on Taihape Rd. We met Marty at Ashurst, went up Takapari Rd to the hut in dense fog and returned to the Bridge Cafe at the gorge. After a coffee stop Marty left us for home and the rest of us went back through the wind farm.

Just had an update from Robyn (DR Girl) who is keeping in contact with Sue (Martys Wife) He hit a lamb outside of Camp David, (was their pet I think). 8 Broken ribs, Broken Shoulder and Collar Bone and I would imagine some massive bruising. Initial concerns with possible lung damage but both working normally.
Sue will determine when he is able to take visitors which will be some time away yet. This is going to be a slow one for Marty.

Sue said he's in a lot of pain but when he can grin (& it will only be that, not a laugh) . . . he will at the '35yr old man' as I'm pretty sure Marty is in his early 50's. What a compliment.
Thank god for good bike gear, Marty still has mod grazing to his hip & elbow & Sue said his helmet well grazed/ damaged.

We are all thinking of you Marty & we will miss your wonderful humour in your posts & that infectious laugh till you are on the mend.

I will pass on all your wishes for a speedy recovery to Sue. Thanks guys.

The radio said neck and spinal which made me worry a lot, but the new prognosis is much better. Cheers for the updates guys.
