    An Evening with Pyn

    Howdy.

Don't know if any of you guys are familiar with Lyndon Poskit's (Pyn) biking adventures? He has an impressive list of races including finishing Dakar and builds most of his own bikes. He is currently doing a solo world tour www.racestoplaces.com and is coming to NZ. I'm not sure (and neither is he yet) if he's coming to the Bay but if he does is keen to meet some local adventure riders.

He's a top guy and an awesome rider and is riding his fully sorted 690 which is super impressive. Anywho just fishing for interest at this stage, as it may not happen, but anyone interested in catching up with Pyn for an evening if we can swing it? Expect it will be latter in the year before he gets here. This is a link to his racing site. http://www.lyndonposkittracing.com

I had the same thing when I was on a morphine drip - every time I tried to sleep I would start to shake and the room would start spinning. Always wondered why the nurses didn't notice the building revolving but I guess they're used to it?

Awhile ago when I was up Kaweka rd some DOC volunteers made me a coffee, chatted over a few things including the road closed sign that goes up in Winter at times as I'd got up there ok one day when I ahem didn't see the sign...
Anyway no road closed sign today, but they were right, you can't get up there when its icey!!!
Made it past couple utes that were stuck, prob wasn't too far from the helipad lookout when the dodgy small patches of ice morphed into holy hell the entire road is a skating rink of hard packed ice.
Completely lost traction, couldn't even get off the bike, had to ski slowly backwards into the berm and formulate a plan from there...
Walking about taking some photos and just about impossible to stand. Getting back down the hill was just as much fun as getting up there.

Oh well a good pre-MMMMM shakedown ride to see everythings in order after some changes to the bike

Get warm pretty quick pushing bike to spot to turn around. Was quite cold in town with frost but relatively warm past Poraiti until we hit the mountain tracks.

    Brrrr

Down at sea level today it was a bit more tropical at the furthest point you can ride to around cape kidnappers (unless your rock hopping) rode from Haumoana across the Maraetotara river outlet which is a doddle at low tide. Some big rock falls half way round the size of cars that keep you alert of the time for your return trip that weren't there last time or your gonner get wet.
