    Thanks Robin.

Yeah Marty it looks like fun, and affordable fun too. Trying very hard not to buy one, as long as no one posts any trademe links I'll be fine...
I've never met such a friendly relaxed bunch of people at any sports event before either. Nearly everyone thanks you for helping out in person. I guess it's a sport where patience and being relaxed is a core skill needed.

You haven't lost your sense of humour

It sure isn't the same riding without you. Miss those wheel stands of yours that would pop up anywhere Also it ain't the same without the Marty chuckle . . . NOT to be confused with the Marty shuffle

Looks like we have got a few more keen Adv riding chaps in the HB gang, John on a Transalp, Alistair on a KLR650, (Used to belong to some American dude who gets really loose on a KTM530 ) Alistairs mate on a Yammy (Sorry, forgotten your name), Dave on a Beemer GS650, ( When he gets it fixed after falling off a trailer) Nigel who is seriously looking for a DR650, (He had a ride on mine and promptly got rid of his Dakar) Beagle the Jammy bugger who has just scored an 09 DR650 off TM with under 3,000 kms on the clock for under 3 grand, Just needs one fork leg replaced. Also has a big tank, pumper carb, after market exhaust system and some other good bits. (deals like this should be illegal).

My advice mate....don't try too hard not to get one, they are two wheeled fun personified

Thanks for the continued encouragement DRGirl; that banana moves a lot better than me at present- had my gall bladder removed last week so another op out of the way. Shoulder is getting looked at in December, MRI showed a tear in the cartilage so likely an op in the new year which will likely delay my return to the handlebars for a bit longer.....gives me longer to procrastinate on a new bike.

I see there is a NZ agent for Icon riding gear on TM. Pretty good gear by all accounts (not up to Klim standards I don't think?) so will have to check it out as still have to replace all mine. Would like to try it on for fit etc so might need a trip to the big smoke once I'm bit more mobile again - their adv helmets look pretty snazzy but don't know about the bubble visors for distortion; anyone tried em?
    ....wherezz that track go

Still trying to forget how much fun those go karts were... I can see myself getting one of those trials things, just my bank account says no right now...

I think you will find that John and Beagle are used to a much brisker pace than the normal KB (knitting bitches) tediously slow crawl.

Got to explore some 'off-limits' areas in Kawekas yesterday as passenger in Logging truck. We had to wait at a gate for loading crew and asked about keys/access etc. Apparently they try to keep access to a minimum and even those who do have keys face a $1000 bill if they lose one. Fresh forestry tracks were pretty soft not sure they'd be too much fun on a big ADV bike, driver had the KW aired down to about 60psi, can drop it to 30.

Well since we are such a considerate bunch here in the bay we could set up a roster system.

Good news Marty plenty more tracks to explore, went for a blast today bit of fishing thrown in while i tried to find a track that is on the map but not on the ground "mrs farmer says not heard of that sonny & you cant come through here"

Then up over Darky's bit further on six logging trucks try to run me off the road had to hide in the ditch on one bend (did you see me Raymond), then on the way home two truck and trailers wanted the whole road so had to dive for cover in the ditch again.
