I guess good old Carl will be getting my business. Just a little rant wondering why most of these dealers even have contact info on their websites.
Anyone here had dealings with Motorad and care to enlighten me if they are good to deal with?
Hope you have a good trip or are you staying?
personally I dont have a problem with your question.
Unfortunately the industry seems very defensive but there are some good ones

as has already been mentioned make sure that your mail isnt going into spam checkers

I dont live near Wellington so cant help there but Pete at Wellington motorcycles im sure will help you out

Thanks for that, your not kidding. The point of OP was wondering why even have email if your not answering it? Of course when I get there I'm going to physically check out places but trying to contact ppl first to see if they have the bikes I'm looking for and if they have a bike buy back program first so I don't waste my time as I only have about 2 months there and don't want to be wasting weeks looking for bike. Laying the groundwork and all that. Thanks to the few who have been helpful.

And White Trash was saying how he would gladly give you his time to sort something out. And you just wind up at him.

Sort your shit out before you come over here.
That's how it works there? It's up to the customers to be nice in order to get the privilege to have a dealer deal with them? He called me out and a liar and that's gonna make me want to do business with him? I have heard nothing but excellent things about New Zealand and it's people and hospitality but a few of you are sure proving that wrong. I will be coming with the assumption that the former is mostly true and wont be narrow minded enough to paint everyone with one brush as a few of you have done.

Motorcycle shops have website because the "idiots guide to running a motorcycle shop' says you should have one. Like all businesses some will use it better than others and some will get stuck with a difficult to use dud. Hell - the website will continue quite some time after the bike shop has actually closed....

Likewise, some sales people are not always going to reply to a difficult to do email. They tend to be busy on deals they can do not ones they can't. You must realise THOUSANDS come here every year and everyone has this bright idea that will save them some $$ rather than renting a bike. Usually the dealers not going to make much so guess what, they get tired of replying cos they just cant convince folks they can't help them.

Usually sales people are people persons and to be fair some of them are grumpy cunts in the flesh let alone over the hinternet. The majority didnt start out being grumpy cunts, in fact most start all starry eyed wanting to work in the motorcycle industry an all but slowly reality bites and its all down hill.... Sad but true and anyone who has been to a dealership in the USA and Canada will probably have similar stories to tell.

Personally I've emailed companies overseas regarding various item and only a third ever reply (if that) to emails...

    Stress less and relax.

foreign email enquiries are usually fraudulent in my experience, i.e stolen credit cards etc................we get attempts about once twice a month.

If the country name ends in a "ia" with the exception of Aussy its almost guaranteed to be fraudulent, I dont even bother replying now.

Quiet in the cheap seats! Here, pass some of that popcorn over!

Actually, frustration at percieved lack of service is a common theme - we all know there are good outfits and cowboy operations out there. It's just a matter of being patient, asking around (like on this forum), being civil and finding the solutions to your problems!

LOL Thanks for that, one of the best replies ever especially the last part. Just frustrated from lack of responses and probably could of used more tack as one guy said.

Motorcycle stores are doing so well over here they can do without your 10 grand. Carl must be desperate answering emails from Canada when everyone else is obviously too busy snorting cocaine off a hookers ass

You will be sweet mate - you can probably get away with something waaay cheaper than the sort of $$ you are talking. Have a look on trademe for something you like. If you buy it early you can get it stashed in our garage (we are in Kapiti and mostly honest) and I'll even pick you up from Wellington Airport (no spare beds but a comfy couch)

You are here to have an adventure ;-)
