    Discountbay Ltd.

A bit of feedback is in order.
I've just upgraded my V1 detector and bought it from Ryan at Discountbay.
They're excellent to deal with, prompt, efficient service. Products are well priced.
    Highly recommended.

On most of the NZ vendor advertisements for good quality radar detectors, they say words to the effect of "specially tuned for NZ conditions". Seeing as most police gear is US-sourced, just how much of that statement is marketing hype? I would have thought that US-sourced detectors would be just fine. I'm all for supporting NZ business but when US suppliers like www.motorcycleradar.com are supplying Escort 8500 X50 detectors for just under US$300, loyalty might be a bit stretched!

Tuned for NZ conditions means that X and K bands are turned off. And on the V1 the warning response for Ka band is heightened.
Check Ryans price on the Escort, I think you'll find it very close to $US300.

Too right Lou. Ryan's really helpful. He gave me a good deal on the V1 H.A.R.D. as well and made me a second wiring connection for the second bike.
Pays for itself in no time.
