Yeah, lack of info in my post there Ryan, I didn't really mentioned that an upgraded bulb did provide a noticeable improvement, I currently have a 55/60 +90% and it is certainly far better than the standard bulb output but when the day runs short and you are still making your way up an unfamiliar 4X4 track to your destination in the dark it makes seeing your terrain a challenge and can be potentially dangerous. The mammoth output from HID lighting and/or LED lighting is too inviting not to install

Looking at the image below with HID lighting looks so good (and safe) for night riding off-road, I can see it will completely remove the "rush" factor out of getting to your destination if time slips away and dark sets in

HID is legal if the reflector is designed for it.

Not legal if retro-fitted to stock reflectors.

We've spent a lot of time trying to get a legal and effective headlight solution for the 08-11 EXC, and haven't found one yet. 04-07 EXCs have the same issues. Keen to hear how both the LEDs and the BD unit work out. Currently have a BA20 35/35 halogen in the stock reflector so it stays lightweight and legal and can run from a stock stator.

The Trailtech gear to update the EXC stator etc still only results in around 70W DC continuous, so Ryan if the AC system has enough to run the 55/60 then you've saved yourself some time and dollars. CF any thoughts on how to power the LED units if they need 20W DC each? You'll only have AC at the headlight wires.

I've just bought a 70w H.I.D followed by a Trail Tech 100w stator the stator kit cost $194 US + $100 US 4 shipping & took 2weeks 2 get here.My bike's an EXC so I thought I would need the S-8310 kit however trail tech recommended the S-8313 kit as the bike has a battery.I hope they didn't put me crook I haven't installed it yet its on the 2 do list for next week

Found This HID over on procycle, looks quite interesting to me, but probably still not legal in NZ, but looks easy to fit.
