ufo plastics are a little on the too funky side but acerbis has a neat headlight. best thing you can do for drz looks is replace the front mud guard though.

as for power, you have couple of options

    1. 3x3 mod and rejet, plus exhaust. You will notice a good increase in pep especially at bottom end and fuel economy will stay pretty much the same.

    2. FCR39 carb like a proper mx bike. Will transform the bike but fuel economy will go down the drain. Personally I'd rather keep the DRZ's insane 3.3l/100km fuel economy as motards are not really about power.

    3. hot cams camshaft. Again, fuel economy down the drain.

each to there own with ufo setup - i only like it coz you cant snap the indicators off !! look on SMJ or Motostrano for ideas

why keep fuel economy ? ? ? its not as if the drz is the most comfortable bike to ride long distance (thin wooden like seat etc ), you are right motards are made for the twisties, but if you want a faster one buy a ktm and dont waste time/money on a DRZ

I'm pretty keen on taking my KLX400 down for a ride around ruapuna. It's been adventurised up & i'm doing the Morley 6hr XC race on it on Sunday. I've never done a trackday before.
Would I have to put plastic shit on the axles etc? I just want to try my hand at going around corners as fast as my lil balls will let me...

A major advantage of the DRZ is fuel economy, it's extremely low. That's why there are many guys using them around the city for dispatch riding etc.

On the contrary, the DRZ is very comfortable to ride long distance and 2 up. I did many long trips on mine and didn't suffer a tired neck or wrists like RR bikes. Good neutral pillion position too. The seat is only hard if you're a lard arse, it's perfectly fine otherwise.

Oh and for the record yup i've got a KTM supermotard and highly recommend going down that route instead of modified DRZ.

That must make me a lard arse then I suppose!! And my two other mates with DRZ`s! For me, the seat sucks big time, but I modded mine with some old camping mat and now it`s ok for 200 kms.

I have found that performance mods haven`t completely ruined the fuel economy, I have a 440cc/ FCR41/ Hotcams stg1/ E airbox set up and still get 21km/L which I think is great. A lot more go than standard too so great fun to ride.

As for the headlight, have you considered a Trailtech x2? I have a Djebel headlight on mine and it is a MASSIVE improvement.
