Learn basic maintenance as motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking in
8.30pm. Cheers.
Wuz it a good Doco?
Any one convinced?
I am open to offers....![]()
I have owned it for a while....but it was stuck in the Chch red zone for much of that...I have had it in my hands for maybe 2 weeks and covered 7000 km
Mine is the top spec sports model with electronic bells and Whistles
I have had a couple of faults...
1) The exhaust valve motor alarm comes up from time to time.
2) A front fork seal started leaking and was repaired under warranty.
Other than that I have very little negitive critsms to make....maybe the power outlet could be better located away from dirt...May be the electronic key/still need key for seat and fueltank could have been better thought out...
It took a while to sort out the traction control settings especially in enduro mode (The bike would just about stop on factory enduro/traction control settings when on corrogations.)
I love the ABS.... confidently grab a fistful of front brake on the gravel...no worries.
My wife loves riding pillion....comfy seat etc. And the electronic suspension is a big assist switching from solo, to 2 up plus luggage.
I enjoy riding the MTS so much I have put the 1098 up for sale...it won't get used.
I have fitted a short Bikini screen as I wanted a more naked feel, and with it raised to top position I get just enough protection to save the arms during a long ride.
It is most definately a real mile muncher, with more of an on road bias than off road when compared to a GS for example...Perfectly suits my wants and needs.
The GC is in 3 weeks....and the tt2000 in feb....looking forward to both.
I only have One, 2, 3 and Prime.![]()
If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
Great doco but nothing to do with the MTS.
Was about crash protection/prevention mostly.
Thanks for that LBD. What sort of tank range do you get?
I read the m-c.com adventure review and they had two mechanical problems with the MTS. In the end power is additive and the MTS has it in spades.
I have no doubt it is a better bike than the Tiger in terms of performance. But for me it's 63% dearer than a Tiger for an extra 30% of power. Triumphs are fairly cheap on service costs and the three I've owned were very reliable- something I expect from a modern machine. No offence intended but Ducati owners I know have had some ridiculous breakdowns that I find totally unacceptable in this century.
Still, given the choice for the same price I would take the MTS!
Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination
Hmm Tiger or Ducati. At least the ducati looks good. Still too expensive tho.
250 spirited riding...expect 225 if aggressive.
275 normal
300+ easier riding
If that was the review that had a rear brake problem and complained about false neutrals then...
The brake looked like it had been over heated and they did say they had adjusted the brake, so I cannot help but wonder if they got it wrong or were riding it....no sign of any problems with any that I know of.
This is my 4th Duc...I recall finding a couple of false neutrals on the S4 early in the game but never had a false neutral since....Again I suspect this claim may stem from riders swapping from one bike to another with different gear shift "feels"
My 70 000 km on later model ducs has been pretty much trouble free....2 fork seals including the one mentioned earlier, the carbon bit on an stubbie after mkt exhaust came loose...and a evr slipper clutch I fitted had a tendency to grab, the S4 developed a shimmer in the front brake when applying, one head light globe and one battery.
The doco is on again tomorrow at 10:30 pm
