    Canadian Spec??

been feeling the itch for a new bike for a while now and finally did something about it today. went around h town and found a nice K4 GSXR 1000 in which i was lucky enough to take for a test ride.
man! what an awesome bike, loved it. i couldn't get over how easy it was to ride. im sooo keen...

but, after a good chat with the salesman and he said that it was a canadian spec bike. what is the difference between a standard and canadian spec???
i have never owend a suzuki before and i am not sure what is all about.

    is there a major difference?
will it be noticable on track days??

any help or opinions would be awesome

    cheers guys,

    JB
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.

Yeah i bought one a few months ago.....got to agree, what you don't know is that it also commutes well, being comfortable and happy just to chug around with low revs. i have to admit it scares me a little sometimes, but apart from that and tyre costs, it is close to the ultimate bike.

As for the canadian spec thing that may be a little sales b/s. how good it is on a track is much more likely to be up to your ability, as it has a considerable amount of power. I have had a yamaha, ducati and kawasaki, but i will make my next bike another gsxr1000. Buy it ,you will not regret it i promise

    Heya Johnboy

There are a few differences, Canadian spec bike's usually have a secondary air set up to accomodate the emmision laws in the states and canada.
However there is nothing to worry about with it.
A couple of years ago all the Corona 600's that were brought into NZ were Canadian spec and there were no problems at all with it.
OCCASIONALLY you will find a mechanic who will download the wrong tune upgrade but it causes an obvious fault and is easily corrected.
On the track the only thing that would slow that bike down is you mate
I know a few peple down here who have Gixxer Thous and BLOODY love them!!!

That was a day I shall NEVER forget Talk about crushing a mans ego LMFAO I thought he was going to cry that day.............
Said he got you in one race but from my memory it was only due to you having a little lye down on the side of the track half way through the race

If the price is right the bike sure as hell is mate!!
Honestly the Canadian thing is NOTHING to be worried about.
Will you keep the ZX as a race bike??

maybe... if for some reason post classics included 1993 bikes yep, for sure.
the only issue is that its too heavy and slow for the only other class it can compete in, F1. one of the main reasons i went into clubbies.
if i buy it (hmmmm....so tempted) i will still have the zed for a while as i have to fix it up after RD3's "minor" mishap.
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.

Canadian spec bikes have a slightly different muffler and an air thingy-whatsit as Mitch described. The most noticeable difference is the split pin in the rear axle nut and the indicator switch works backwards.

I believe that all the K4's on sale for $18,995 were Canadian Spec . Tuned to run on 91 .

I thought most Suzuki road bikes were Candian Spec, and also most Honda dirt bikes are from Mexico, so I've been informed anyway
