End of the line for the SP-2

Honda’s big V-twin, the VTR1000SP-2 is now in its final run of production after a long and celebrated history of winning championships both on the track and in the hearts and minds of its owners.

Built with a strict focus on top performance, the VTR1000 SP-2 is, by design, a street-legal race machine equipped with many of the technological advancements seen on Honda's World Superbike Championship winning bike.

Honda dealers across the country are now receiving their final shipments of this pioneering motorcycle and stocks are limited, so anyone considering a purchase should enquire as soon as possible.

The 2005 model further entices with an all new paint job including a black frame, swingarm and front fender, along with silver-coloured wheels.

AS stated above. I know you can still get the SP1 also.

yeah well and what ever happened to the TLR? ohhh yeah no one wanted one so that seased production years ago.... only Honda could compeat with the Iti's aye

The SP series were made to let Honda compete against Ducati in WSB. Now they don't need it's history.

Also Honda can sell a bucketload more CBR1000s which have a lot less residual costs attached. And they can compete in WSB etc.

So nice bike (if you like V Twins) but not really a surprise to see it dropped.

Love the sound of V-twin motors

Used to get woken up by one up the yonder in Auckland for months in a row, at 2am mind you!
Never complained that they would idle their bike for 30min a mere 6m from my bed. It had an awesome rhythm so frequently fell asleep before they departed.

Road the first one here in New Plymouth . Great bike very fast but to small for my body . Tryed the SP5 that was at the shop & felt just the same & looked no different from the SP1 just colour had changed .Only a few round here didn't take off that well . Owell been alot of bikes that didn't cut the Mustard .

The SP-2 may get smoked by your average 750 or 1000 4-cylinder sportbike, but I still want one, one day...not as my only bike though. Still need to be able to compete in the pissing contests.

as it happens NZ is the only place in the world where you can get anything greater than the SP-2. Honda NZ or whoever imports them thing we're feckin stupid and have tried to badge them along with the years that they have been intoriduced.

It's Bollox.

The Sp-3. SP-4 and SP-5 just happen to have been re-stickered to look like a new bike, but the only things that have changed since the original SP-2 Have been colour changes.

And by the way, I'm half cut and have no idea what I'm talking about, but it looks good. I might have to go buy me one of those SP5/2's for good measure.
