I just went for my first night ride tonight

And Wow it was fun! I've been itching to get out at night and see how well the headlights etc perform being an older bike so I went for a quick blast around the lake and got back just in time for learners curfew (10pm).

I'm not sure what I was expecting but it was like a whole new experience for me compared to riding during the day. Physically it was pretty much the same but mentally I found it really exhausting especially going through some of the twisty patches. I really wasn't expecting to get so much glare reflecting back off road signs when I was high beaming and showing up crap on my visor.

All in all it was a fun experience and I was happy to find that the headlights work fine.

I remember night riding...its getting a little late in the year for decent rides though.

Thing I found is that I could concentrate more on the smoothness of my riding and following a preset curve in the corners because I couldn't see how horrible the surface was and wasn't worrying about it.
All that mattered was what the headlight could pick out ~50m away.

Always nice to get out when the roads are quiet... Just makes the ride that much smoother...

I live down a fantastic twisty road, which is a Pro,
the con is, when its dark its pitch black - Cliff on one side, and open harbor on the other and not a street light in sight, its great fun though dont get me wrong, It can be a little off putting coming around a blind corner to high beams or rocks on the road which are more easily seen during the day.

as for headlights, mines as good as a candle my digital clocks produce more light
