    but its still a road bike no matter what tyres are on it...

    +1 still haven't lightened the bike enough to matter (since the previous two version just got a little heavier each time), brakes haven't been improved, front suspension needs some options.

    That said it is a cheap as chips road tourer and it does that well. (why the heck they drop 2litres from the tank is beyond reasoning ) .

    But a road bike that can get through to Big River no problems...

    I had a DL1000, and it was great on gravel and easy off road (actually, a coupla times we blundered into not so easy off road and it gave a good account of itself).

    Road bike or Adv bike - it's up to the rider, really...
