Servicing for MV Agusta in Auckland

    Morning

Is there anyone in Auckland (preferably North Shore or Central) that has experience / performs work on MV Agusta bikes? Model in question is an F4 with a suspected need for a timing chain tensioner replacement. Only people I can find who can't get off the phone quick enough are Red Baron so far and even they asked 'depends what you want doing'.

    Any help/tips appreciated

    Thanks

Saw your questions on MV. Net. Anyone competent Should be able to do it, there's nothing that different compared to Japanese bikes as far as valves and timing gear. I know of one dealer down my way that could probably do it.

    cheers.

What model and how many KMs?

    Hi Kermit

It's an 2004 F4-1000S. Didn't realise how much of a pain in the ass it is just to get someone to look at her never mind fixing her. If I'd have known I probably wouldn't have bought but I've got to do something...afraid to ride it at the moment for fear (maybe unfounded) of bad things happening

    Cheers

Great model, they were pretty good for reliability. check your cam chain tensioner as well and make sure it is black, not silver (can see it between exhaust headers 2 & 3 with the fairings off), There was a factory recall on the silver ones.
They are fantastic bikes and have rock solid motors.
Any competent mechanic should be able to it. Its just the same as any japanese inline four motor as far as timing gear.
Do you have the workshop manul? try taking that to the workshop to ease minds.
Go here for it if you don't:

just realised it is the tensioner you are talking about.
Its quite easy, and same as the 1000R (saw your other question).

The motor doesn't need to be pulled apart at all for it. Just the fairings and roll the radiator foward.

PM CAG on the other place for parts (cheaper and faster)

    Thanks for the help kermit.

Made a few calls over my lunch break to Bay City in Tauranga and Motorad in Wellington. Both very helpful. Motorad put me on to Coleman's Suzuki here in Aucks that have an ex-MV mechanic working there. They have been very helpful and she's going in for her tea and biscuits next week

    Cheers

He's only moving Motohaus to underneath Motomail - will make it even easier for me to get there! AJ is a top bloke, and is the only mechanic who I have dealt with in Auckland that I wholeheartedly trust with all my bikes. Have seen several MVs go in and out of there for work and insurance jobs.

It's mental, Mr Dangermouse - the ads on TardMe for Red Baron's MVs say they sell and service 'em, yet you ring them and they say, "Uh... nuh!". By rights they shouldn't even be MV dealers!
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Red Baron are questionable at the best of times. They bring new meaning to the 'stealership' concept.
Arborist available - Will trade tree work services for bike parts or servicing! PM me...
