Somewhere somehow I have lost one of the pillion footpegs off my bike. Wof is due, Is it a requirement to have pillion footpegs to get a wof ?

Thanks Indy. Thought that was the case. Sent the mrs into the local Suzuki dealer yesterday, with all the bike details and description of what I needed. They had no idea where to get one. Yet in 5 minutes I could order one from the US.

Is there a standard for footpegs? Do they have to fold? Do they need to be original equipment to pass WOF?

... wondering if you could just bang a long bolt in there to pass WOF.

(Technically it'd have to stay there (if it worked at all) as bike has to be at WOF standard all the time, not just when it got the sticker.)

That would be up to the tester ... it's HIS certification ticket on the line ... so I would say NO ....

    Yeah ... right ...

And a cop stops you down the road for a chat ... notices NEW WOF (and missing footrest) Pings YOU for not having a bike up to WOF standard ... and pings the WOF issuer for passing it ... HE LOSES HIS WOF CERTIFICATION ....

Notice the keyword MIGHT dickhead? I've had bikes passed with steel showing on the tyre after showing the new unfitted tyre, bikes passed with blown bulbs on the condition I replace it immediately, passed with bent handlebars etc. You're obviously such an expert on human behaviour and social interaction, why don't you try building a working relationship with a WOF tester? It's not impossible.

    And then he might not.

Vehicles (bikes) have been failed for less ... And a "working relationship" with the tester helps you understand WHY they failed you. Not just because they're picky pricks (although they may well be).
As for bikes of mine getting passed as you describe ... I CAN give similar examples too. That is THEIR choice, I was happy they did ... but certainly didn't get shitty and moan on KB, if on another occasion ... they FAIL me ... YOU seem like petty minded dip-stick that would though ...

Considering the cost and time, getting the paperwork done to get certification/licence for WOF testing ... few are willing to risk losing it.

Good luck those of you who try.

Wot e sed. If your bike has the capacity to seat someone, then it must have foot rests for them.

Either get another pillion peg, or get a cowl, then there is only space for one person to sit.

Some testers get really pedantic ... ie: The bike is registered as seating TWO ... REGARDLESS of only being/having a single seat fitted.
