    Changing front fork seals?

Ok.....the better half had to replace the oil and seals on his 2004 RMZ250.

Getting it apart was not a problem but putting it back together has been a mission - he knows the order to put it back in but getting the metal bottom ring to push into the tubing is not happening - he is unsure how to get it back in without damaging the shock.

Can anyone give me some basic tips or a blow by blow account of how to do this and what other issues he may come up against.

I am no use as I leave it to him or the bike shop!

I use a piece of 50mm plastic water pipe from bunnings cut it in half legnthways and there you go one $3 seal driver

you dont even need a seal driver, a long piece of metal with a blunt end and a hammer to softly tap it in works fine, just go from side to side, and keep doing that until you can fit the clip in

Yep that is exactly what I use as well, with a hose clamp to keep it together

You can just cut the old fork seal in half and just use that with a rubber or plastic hammer.

have used all of the above apart from a seal drive but have found a reasonable length punch 3-4mm end on it to drive in ring and cut about a 3rd of the old seal out use it up side down on the new one to drive that in all with small ball hammer.
