    Angry a

If you're looking at a bike that's been de-registered and re-registered in the past, would you think:

    a) Crap it's been in a crash in the past or something bad's happened, STAY AWAY!

    or

    b) Hey something's happened in the past, but regulations and tests to get vehicles re-registered are pretty damn strict and it's gotta now be in great condition!

Pretty much is it a lemon once it's been de-registered, or is it like some broken bones that become stronger than before throughout the healing process?

    Just wonderin'

P.S. Now wish I'd made this a poll... mod?? a or b would be nice!

Regos go dead for reasons other than accidents.

Ride it, check it out, and satisfy yourself.

I let mine slip into the dead zone once upon a time when it was still pretty much brand new.
I only register it in the summertime now.

theres a difference between a bike being de-registered such as a crsh and a bike thats rego has lapsed through uselessness.

I re-regd my GB400 as it had lapsed and been in the garage for 7yrs, and yes it had to pass fairly strict testing which included new front disc and pads, new swingarm bushes and new tyres.

worth it though, choice little bike.

Went and checked out this bike - http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-421743213.htm

De-reg cause of front-end crash. Been fully replaced and all new fairings etc.

Unfortunately it just didn't feel quite right, not very planted or stable - but that could just be going from a big 750 to a super skinny 600.

But then things like the ignition barrel just poking through the steering etc has put me off I think.

I have reregistered at least half a dozen bikes over the years and none were previously crashed. All were restored to one level or another so as the man said and it seems you have listened, go, look and ride. If it feels wrong, it is wrong. I personally would be reluctant to purchase and ride a rebuilt post frontal damaged bike.

    Good luck with the search.

I personally have no problem buying them if theve been fixed properly.if they have been you wont be able to tell that they have been binned.
