    High mileage CBR900RR

I've seen this CBR900RR for sale http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-425018699.htm, but the thing that puts me off is the mileage at 100,000km. Do you think it will be OK if I can try and get it for $3500?

If it was a toss up between the tigerblade & the FZR thou that's advertised on the forum I'd be leaning t'wards the yammy. Seller has not listed any maintenance or work done.

I'm not really that keen on the FZR1000 because they're much heavier than the CBR900RR.

I figured you had a definite hankering, just thought I'd mention it.

Fair enough, at one stage I was quite interested in buying an FZR1000 as they were an excellent sports bike for their time, but the CBR900RR is around 30kg lighter than the FZR. I'm a bit biased as well because I've had such a good run out of my CBR250.

I just had a chat to the owner who said it needs a new rear tyre (which will be around $300 including fitting) and the rego is on hold which will cost around $150 for 3 months. He said he may even get a WOF for it so I'm figuring it pretty much needs around $500 spent on it straight away. I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow. The owner said the fairings are good and it doesn't look like it's ever been for a slide.

go and look at it,and ride it.Take it to someone who knows about them to check it out.Make your best offer.
The overall condition looks quite good.It must have been relatively well looked after otherwise it would not have made it to 100k.An unbiased view from the outside

Any volunteers want to come and have a look at it with me tomorrow? I don't know a hell of a lot about bikes.

There is every chance the mechanicals are fine given sympathetic owners, but look closely at the suspension and steering head bearings. If the owner has no record of having these serviced, allow plenty in your offer to have these serviced. I think the idea of getting it checked at Hamptons is a good one if you are serious about it.

Might be a bit expensive by the time you fly George down to Christchurch to see it
