Without realising it, I rode straight into the front radar zone of an Omega a few weeks ago at about 118 ish. I felt it prudent to offer a friendly wave as we passed. Within the tiniest split-second of raising a finger, his lightbar sprung into action and promptly extinquished itself as he appeared in my rear-vision mirror. I cancelled my left indicator and carried on lol!

Polite request to knock 5 clicks off, or friendly wave?

Can't be either - cops don't warn (they have a quota, remember?) and NEVER wave.

Got my first ticket from the Rozza the other day.

The sneaky 300m after 100 to 80 zone, and 300m after passing lane.

You forgot to mention.............you were exceeding the speed limit. That normally happens before tickets get issued, but that fact rarely gets mentioned. What does get mentioned is the revenue collecting, sneaky bastard underhandedness of it all, quota sucking, get a real job, become a real Policeman, sort of tripe.

    Hmmm, seems I'm cheesed off.

Never said I wasn't speeding. I was breaking the law, and it's the Rozza's job to enforce it. All I'm saying is that it was a dick place to be, the entire road should be 100km/h and nothing changes that should make the road have a lower speed limit. There is no higher housing density, the road doesn't become thinner, it looks like any other open road in the country. The only difference was an NZTA approved 80km/h sign and all of a sudden if I'm exceeding that limit I'm breaking the law. As far as I remember police do have the power of 'discretion'.

It also tends to fuck me off when I got assaulted and mugged by a group in the street a couple years ago when I was 17, get my case file lost by the police and told I was never mugged/assaulted at a station and that there was no record of it. I hand in phone numbers of the assailants friends/girlfriends that I sourced myself. These are then subsequently 'lost' and the case is then 'closed without resolve'. Now they do such an amazing job enforcing speed limits, but when a member of the public is assaulted and they can't do their fucking job IT'S ABYSMAL NO WONDER EVERYONE HATES 'EM! Protect and serve? More like self-centred fuck-wits.

Yeah, I know there are good cops out there... too bad I've never had the honour of encountering them. Instead cops who don't give a shit instead of protecting the public and douche bags with laser guns bringing 'safety to their communities'.

    You don't know cheesed off.

I have grown up now and I do understand that if I lose concentration for a minute, I could get a ticket.

What bugs me is when there is a school and dairy in a 50kph zone that is not being policed for speed, yet when you leave the zone in need of policing, there is a speed trap in a relatively safer zone waiting just before the 100kph sign.

It's not about road safety, it's about tickets

BUT, it is fair to say that I do now drive with more consideration to the limits, so it is sort of working for me.

Also, I was followed by a cop car for about 5km today, as I had just come through a 50kph limit without concentrating on my speed. I may have been a little over. The cop car eventually pulled past me and appears to have exercised some discretion
