    Cog CBR600 F4 (2000) Parts and tools

    Gidday all,

First post on here, so "hi" as well as "help".

I'm looking to buy at least one if not both front disc rotors for my CBR600F. Hen's teeth at wreckers all over the country (and pricey if they had em) and at least $650 each for genuine. Can anyone help who knows someone or somewhere? Also, has anyone tried the aftermarket round or wavey that Sweet Street are selling online - I want to know if the quality is ok since they are a great price.

While I'm here I also need a screen and front guard (pref red) and would be interested if anyone is flogging a whole one for parts.

Finally - where's the best place to buy bike specific tools? Can you get away with Bunnings for stuff like torque wrenches, v-blocks etc or would it be better to buy proper bike stuff?

That'll do for now. Not a novice but have had a couple of years away after binning my NC30 and sold all my gear cause didn't think my arm would work again. Cheers fullas (and -esses), any help much appreciated

Shame about the nc30. I love mine, spending all my money on it at the moment..

As for the tools mate, if you know any engineers, see if they can get you stuff through their work. As they will get primo discounts from good suppliers. Specialist tools, like clutch holders and stands can be bought through bike shops. Otherwise bunnings does have some good brand tools there, though they also have some shit.

You get what you pay for an all that.

Sure did. Prob should have bought the one that's on there now with half the kms, but when you see a bike you just have to have. $4g by the way. cough......

I wanted your NC30 but didn't have the cash at the time then you went and sold it. I'm still certain that the tank you had on it was off the one I crashed.

Cheers for the help so far guys - much appreciated

Sorry mAte :-p loved the nc30 but it was killing me going to work on it every day..ivebought an f2, would have liked the f4 but just had way too much work...id recommend getting that cam chain tensioner looked at/done..You can get discs through eBay but careful - heard a couple are rubbish, might be worth more going through the multitude of American part stores with te Honda part numbers..I managed to get in a fuel tap repair kit for about 1/3 the price of one on eBay by looking around.

The tank was definately from a guy in waipukerau by hawkes bay..saw bits off the rest of the bike lol...

I can't hear any cam chain noise whatsoever? The guy told me about it when I first saw it, but it was warm (he came to me) and there was nothing. But from cold there's no noise either. I'll get it serviced after I've finished pulling it to bits and rebuilding it probably - or more likely just check and sort it myself. The disc rotor (hopefully just one) is first priority though.
    Cheers

All good then!!:-) heh. There was a noise at idle that disappeared about 3k rpm. Oh yeah, it was missing dust seals on the front forks or something ay?

Quick update now that that particular nightmare is over and I literally have 67c left in the bank until tomorrow:

Got pair of 2nd hand OEM discs from Bike Busters for $300 and they've done the trick nicely.

New front guard made by Just Fairings for $150 (amazing job and fit - also had it within 4 days of ordering even though he made a second one because he wasn't happy with 1st attempt) and Mark at Kolorinn Kustoms who welded the cracked top fairing is gonna do the paint for a great price.

New screen from Godiva/Visual Plastics for $179

Cam Chain noise came back (glad you mentioned it or I would have freaked) and it sounded like there was a teaspoon floating around in there. Got an A service done at C'treads which included doing the tensioner + clearances, balance, blah blah usual. Cost another $750 and was pretty gutted right up until 2 mins from the shop when I opened it up for the first time and my grin just about cracked my helmet.

The only downer, aside from extreme poverty, is that at some stage way back when, someone has been lazy with oil changes and the oil hole under one end of the exhaust cam has got blocked. It's scored the cam right through the hardening and also damaged the journal and cover. HUGE money to fix, but silver lining is that it runs fine and "should" be ok. Maybe a new cam and head or 2nd hand engine at some point but we'll see....
