When life throws you a curve ... Lean into it ...
Fark it this is a case of dambed if ya do and dambed if ya don't. So everybody goes attgatt and the nice fulla from ACC says "ya see a law change won't affect those scum anyway because they are alerady wearing the gear"
Deliberately ride in the minimum gear. Jeans tee shirt and a hoodie and Mr ACC man goes "ohh we must right away have a new law to protect these idiots from themselves"
IMO the best idea is IN THIS CASE to be in stealth mode. What they can't see they can't report on.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
They would be better suited cruizing the Paekak Hill Rd and correcting the riding techniques of the road cyclists who are usually 2-3 abreast across the Rd and will blatantly keep doing it regardless of who is behind them. We nearly took out three on the wrong side of the Rd...Lycra undies and a shower curtain raincoat would of done stuff all to save them from 380 kgs of Boulevard
It is entirely possible to teach an old blond new tricks!!!
The only answer is to stop having the avoidable accidents.
(And to stop clutching at the straws of trying to excuse your accidents as one of those 'unavoidable' ones).
Until ACC classes motorcycle accidents as "no fault" like ACC coverage is meant to be we are all screwed regardless of the number of accidents we do or don't have.
Maybe instead of the safety board guys worrying about hi-viz and poop on the road they could do something to educate drivers about motorcycles and cyclists, hell maybe they could teach muppets not to over fill their f'n diesel tanks and dump it on round about's while they are at it, I'm sure ACC would be as happy as me if they sorted that puppy out.![]()
