The BIG concern is fronting up to final check, baggage is gone and we're told - sorry no helmets............
And the (probably) BIGGER concern is having them smashed around in our checked in baggage.

It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.
Will depend if you have any other carry on luggage, and it can fit into the overhead lockers. And probably whether it is International or not.
“- He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.”
I do this as part of my gig.
The only time in 50+ flights that I had to check it in was the one time as a noob I asked at the ticket desk if it was OK.
Just walk on with it and nobody will say anything. International or domestic.
Squeeze it into your helmet bag then.
Even last trip to WLG to AKL, AKL to Whangarei .... no problem.... was even in just a cloth draw string bag... but was my only carry on.
Can't see that changing in the last 2 years...
BTW its not listed on the 'not allowed in yer luggage' list...
If you have a Big Dave '"I'm about to murder someone" look on your face the whole time, they'll leave you alone![]()
Nobody messes with Dave (Big).....![]()

I have always carried it on rather than check in.
For bonus points, put in on before landing and see what happens??!!!! They cannot ask you to remove it - if they do, say that you have previously sustained a head injury.
Actually, I may try this next time myself..
I tell them - 'The last flight was really rough!'
" Sorry sir you cant take that helmet on board"
"Oh yea? How long does it take a plane to fall 30,000ft? 3 minutes?? I can put my skid lid on in half that time. Thank you, now get outta my way. "
How long would it take for a plane to fall 30,000?
" Rule books are for the Guidance of the Wise, and the Obedience of Fools"
Tell them you have a fear of flying and that it's for safety in case the pilot bins the plane.
"It would be spiteful, to put jellyfish in a trifle."\m/ o.o \m/
I have heard of them saying no, but it was quickly fixed with a rational argument.
It is a piece of potentially life saving safety equipment that relies on being in perfect condition to do its job. You cant risk having it thrown around by baggage ha^^^DESTROY^^^ers.
