    Pelorus Sound/Port Ligar?

    This: http://g.co/maps/agx4v

For those that have explored up that way, what are the road conditions like? I'm failing at getting some Anakee 2's to fit to the bike, so wondering if the PR3T fitted to the GSA will suffice. If it gets really rough I might have to consider, but gravel roads shouldn't be too much of a problem, as long as it doesn't cut the tyres up Don't really want to go for knobblies as I have 1300km around it, getting there and back...

Would be tootling through there next weekend.

It's barking mad and if it doesn't turn you into a complete loon within half an hour of cocking a leg over the lofty 875mm seat height, I'll eat my Arai.

Actually, nope. It's not on my plan at all. I have to be down in Wellington on Friday for work, so I'll leave Auckland about midday Thursday. Then I was planning to take the whole weekend to come home, but then realised I've actually done most of the significant roads in the North Island in the last month or two, and could do them pretty much any weekend I wished. Gentle Annie does need a re-visit to take some good pictures tho.

Since I'm that far south, I should pop over to the South Island on Friday night after the Wellington work is complete, and spend a day (Saturday) exploring roads I've always wanted to do. Upon telling my boss, he suggested he might give me the Monday off, if we're ahead of schedule, so that would mean TWO days exploring the Sounds area (2nd day I'd go past Portage). I've only done Portage up that way (2010 TT) and I reckon it would be really beautiful, and I suspect the GPS maps aren't accurate, given the remoteness, so an extra bonus.

Use the final day (Sunday or Monday) to then shoot back to Auckland
