The "modern" Enfield's are fuel injected and electric start.

we had the option when I was there 15 years ago to get a bullet or a wee honda 125s (I was about 30kg lighter) - went for the wee 125 rented it in Goa (promise we won't leave the state sir) returned it 2 months later with 5 - 6 more k on the clock and a lot of great memories went down the coast to the tip and back up the middle - had to lift it over two rivers so bloody glad I didn't go for the Royal Enfield, only ever had to pay baksheesh once for uninsured out of state bike about 4 pounds from memory (about a day and a half's budget).
You either love India or hate it they say - I love it!!!

    Manali to Kaza

Things went a little awry for Rasmus on this leg, he managed to bounce off a boulder that threw him over the side of a rocky ford, luckily no damage to him, some panel beating and mechanical tweaking and the bike and Rasmus were good to go.
