    Is this legal or illegal?

    Hi,

I bought 2001 suzuki fxr150 on TradeMe last Saturday and I received a certificate of registration from nz transport agency today.

My question is, as you can see in the picture there is odometer reading history.

Obviously from the below, 12/01, 01/04 and 11/06 looks normal but at 12/11 the odometer reading is reduced from 29000 to 10279.

The seller who sold the bike to me, she wrote odometer as 10100km. I bought this bike because it has low odometer otherwise I wouldn't buy it.

So is this normal or do I have to contact the seller and tell her about the odometer reading.

    Thanks.

usually the discrepancies in mileage readings are because of the wof inspector writing the wrong number down on the checksheet because they have sausage fingers, carjam the number plate, what is the mileage on the speedo

    Go to carjam and check.

Looks like there was an error in the 29000k recording as 28k in 2 years on a 150cc is a bit much I wold think. Was prob meant to be 2900k

It's a typo. They've added a zero to the end of the odometer reading on those two warrant checks.

If however it has traveled all those k's added up, it's still legal. You are not required to certify an odometer replacement unless the vehicle is diesel.

    How does the bike run?

If it's OK forget the odo reading. I agree that it might be a typo.

It's just a typo, happens all the time, WOF monkey has hit 0 twice (or doesn't know how to read the dials, which is entirely possible). Doesn't mean anything, it's obvious to anybody that's what's happened. In other words, don't worry about it.

I bet the WOF inspector meant to key in 9000, and keyed in 29000 by mistake.

A wise mechanic once said to me "Don't think about what the machine has done - think about what it can still do."

    Good advice.

Nah it isn't a typo. Look at the wof sheet shows 2 readings above 20k (22 Aug 05 and 29 Nov 06) and back to bugger all by Nov 07.

Most likely would be one of the previous owners binned it and it needed a new speedo. So I'd wager its done about 40k, just barely run in.

it could be a typo, take the last 0 off the 2 high readings and you get a straight line graph.

it could of also been a faulty speedo and replaced,

it could also of gone around the clock.

I'd place money on two incorrect readings in a row.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Look at the numbers more closely. If you knock a zero off the two readings that are insanely high, the increments in which the distance goes up in, are quite consistent and make a lot more sense.

Dunno how the speedo reads on those things, but there's a good chance it goes 1032.1. The .1 being 100 meters. If a wof inspector just entered the whole sequence without the decimal it would explain the cock up.
