    Test rode '89 FJ1200

Pondering a replacement for the mighty XJ, so took an FJ1200 for a short blat.
Shot steering head bearings that were over-tightened to camouflage their worn state made for some interesting preformance. Having to wressle the bars at road speed to stay upright.
But I thought I'd have noticed a bit more grunt.
The XJ is prob noisier but just the feel of the motor didn't feel as toqueier.
The dealer is having the steering-head bearings replaced, so am planning a longer outing the weekend after next.

Perhaps it was just smoooth power and I'm not used to that!

Well the FJ1200 I rode a few mths ago was a joy to ride compared to the 2002 FZR1000 or whatever that's lying around for me to ride at the moment.Handling and power you don't have to think about,I find them nice and light yet steady on the steering, power from idle to the redline, any gear,I feel right at home on one.

Between 4 & 5 ... Only went up TeRapa Straight over Pukete bridge to GlenLynn and back. Not much of a ride.
If it was me and I didnt wave - sorry. Prob more concened in holding the thing upright.
Longer ride will be out westwards.

Only FJ i've seen in action was a guy over the tuka's, he was going alright until the wind guided him into the barrier, bike came off pretty good considering, I'm sure you'll be able to hustle along on the FJ quite well Warren, still reckon you and frosty should have an XJ900 show down before you get rid of it.
