I do have the option of using an empty house next to my parents. It's rough... but we can fit another 1/2 dozen people in there. I'll check tonight to see if the power is still connected. I can put a fridge and jug for tea and coffee etc over there. If you want to doss there you will need a mattress of some description, because when I said empty I mean empty.

If you don't want to rough it, please find a motel.
Checked today. House has power, Ma n Pa are happy to let us use it and overrun their house too. So showers and bathrooms are available.

Depending on numbers and who's keen to do what... we might even have a BBQ there for tea. Bikes can be chained up in parents back yard. I'm happy to wing it and see who turns up and organise ourselves on the day. (Dinner that is)

Well done that man! Priority parking for KTM's in the shed though right?

One thing we have suffered a bit from on the last few rides is dust, so if there are some less navigation intensive parts of the ride that could be easily described by a route sheet (or list of instructions) that might be something worth considering. (if you can be arsed)

    Cheers
    Clint

    Hmmm

Well, I might scout the Tepuia ride in the Fourbie over xmas and make some notes. I'm expecting this to be a relatively small group, so I was kind of hoping to use corner-man system. The royal pain in the arse is that many of these back roads will be missing road signs. Tarndale loop is still dependent on access and we won't be doing it until the day.

I'll try and get some detailed maps before the ride, but if you're desperate you could always print the directions from my plotted Google Maps...

I've just been talking to another bloke who has a cross country route to Mahia which we can keep as plan B if we can't do the Tarndale loop. The Pub at Mahia does pretty good burgers too.

And at 0530, the bikes will be saddled up for a full days riding, so get your arse outta bed folks, the weather looks cracking for the East Cape!

Yep, +1 what Clint says. I am intentionally pitching this pretty low. Newbies are welcome. This will be a fun/cruisey ride.

Keep in mind there will be a bit of slabbing, so If you can comfortably manage 100k's on the open road you should be ok.
Thanks allot for the okay for me to come. I will be trailering the bike over and I have pretty flash accomodation on wheels if I can find some where to park, where the Council won't move me on.

I have just discovered the Grandschildren are coming up from the Sth Is so it will be dependant on how long they stay.

I have just got back from doing a 4 day loop from here to Waikaremona, Tiniroto, Matawai and home. Very similar to ride the guys did earlier this month, so am getting in some practice. Loved it.

Thanks again for making me feel welcome

    Hi.

Sounds/looks like a great ride. Have you got room for another newbie?

I've got a tent and I'm not afraid to use it. Will be camping at Mahia the week before, and if I can get the extra time off, I'd love to join you guys.

    Cheers John
