I'm making good progress, and have tentative permission to cross the short important section through the forest. My people are talking to their people. I hope to have confirmation this week.

I hope I don't get people's hopes up too much with this ride. I see people coming from AKL & WGN so I hope it's worth the effort. The coffee at Tolaga is feckin good though. If we find it's a cakewalk and we rip through it we can find some connecting roads and do a few loops around the place. There's a small private beach south of Tolaga we could also explore on the way home.

Regarding accommodation: We have a few beds at our place, and there's room for tents on my lawn. Or I can probably find a few spare beds at my oldies place.

It sounds like an awesome couple of rides. I would love to come, but I don't think my NXR 125 would keep up and just be a pain. I'll have to wait for another trip after I'm allowed to buy a 250cc bike.

I'll just keep pottering along on my own till then.

    Have a great time.

nice one peet, keep your people talking to people who know people. And I'm sure your stimulating company will be worth the 6+ hour trip from Orkers right.....right?!

Hopefully I'll have a trailer by then to nana my bike down on

& if you tell or show them that you'll have spark aresters & fire extinguisher's it will go along way to them saying yes!! I use to log, hunt & ride through there

You only need 12hp to tour the world. The rest is just wheelspin.

As long as you're a confident rider on gravel & don't stop to take photo's every 5 min a 125 will keep up fine. This is gravel road & farm track touring/exploring, not a race. The trip over from Reporoa might get a bit boring in places but it'll be an adventure!

    Cheers

Of course. You guys can have the double bed. For anyone else staying we have a few stretchers, a foam mattress and a couple of air beds. Not classy, but it's free and better than staying in a tent.

Yep, +1 what Clint says. I am intentionally pitching this pretty low. Newbies are welcome. This will be a fun/cruisey ride.

Keep in mind there will be a bit of slabbing, so If you can comfortably manage 100k's on the open road you should be ok.

You're mad. But yes, you can have some dirt. I'll even chuck in some lawn for free.

Hmmm might need to tidy my shed so there's some parking space in there.

Erm yep. I haven't met you guys personally, but after reading Mark's profile I am led to believe he'll be up at 5:00am cleaning my shed, washing my bike... and by god he'd better have a cup of tea waiting for us when we wake up.

    Now where's Anthony's profile...

My house is getting pretty full now, Beyond this point anyone else will need to bring a tent, or find a motel.

I do have the option of using an empty house next to my parents. It's rough... but we can fit another 1/2 dozen people in there. I'll check tonight to see if the power is still connected. I can put a fridge and jug for tea and coffee etc over there. If you want to doss there you will need a mattress of some description, because when I said empty I mean empty.

If you don't want to rough it, please find a motel.
