I have just got back from doing a 4 day loop from here to Waikaremona, Tiniroto, Matawai and home. Very similar to ride the guys did earlier this month, so am getting in some practice. Loved it.

Thanks again for making me feel welcome
    Hi Brian.

No problem, I assume you have a campervan, You can park it at my parents place where the extras will be staying in the empty house.

If you can manage the loop around the lake etc, then you'll find this trip a breeze.

What sort of speeds are you managing on the open road? And how are your gravel skills shaping up?

Thanks for that. Yes it is a 6m van with about a 5.5m trailer on the back. That would be great if I can fit, other wise I'm sure there is a POP some where handy. I'll be driving down on the Friday if I can make it, which I'm hopping I can.

The bike appears to be happy at a genuine (GPS) 85kph, 90 on the speedo.

I'm juggling dates and grandchildren around in my head trying to make it all work.

    Cheers

Yes it will definitely "fits". The house has a long flat driveway. And there is even a reyrolle plug for power.

Wow! That's awesome. I have just paced out the trailer and it is only 3.5m, so I won't take up as much room as I thought.

It is looking more and more likely I can make it. Even if I drive down on the Saturday morning straight to the meeting point and pick the van up from there after the ride.

I forgot to answer before, that I'm comfortable on gravel roads as I have beem riding them on the farm bike and bicycles for the last 50yrs.

Thanks for putting the time and effort into organizing this trip. Your a legend.

Sue has decided she'd like to come over and spend some time in Gisborne as it has been a number of years since we were over that way. Is it still okay we park the van at your parents place. She'll be driving it over as I'm riding over with Brainflex from Whakatane.

    Cheers

    Hi Paul.

Looking at the k's we're doing, you should be fine on a stock tank. You might hit reserve on the way home but that would only be
for the last few k's. If you're worried you could carry a small bottle. 1 litre = 20k's.

Hmm I had a count last night. I currently have 6 at my house, and 4 at the other house (including you) + 2 in a campervan.

So I think that's 12 bikes incl me. Between Adv and KB there's another 8 'maybes' that seem interested but have yet to confirm.

There's plenty of floor space in the house (2 bedrooms + lounge), but for everyone's sanity lets limit it to 6-8 people. My parents have also offered a few extra beds at their house if needed.

Thanks for the organisation Peet, txt sent.

Hey Clint, what time do you think you would need to leave your place Saturday morning to get to the start point? Still tossing up a plan for the weekend. May take

Friday off and ride through Waikaremoana, Tiniroto etc with some of your mmmm ride notes and Brian B's references from his recent write up.

Or a very early direct/sprint down on Saturday morning - or something in between.

    cheers
    Anthony

I am out but thanks for the chance to at least consider it...
It seems the riding gods have not had sufficient sacrifices of 'things'for me to ride.....at present.
Therefore, this AND the DB1K is out of reach.....
Maybe with the week off, I really need to consider something else?
    Knitting? Hmmm

Hi, I am riding down with Brian B. Need a space on a floor if possible or somewhere to chuck up a tent.
The quiet scares me cause it screams the truth.
