7am start? yee gads, what have I got myself into Oh... also, wasn't sure if there was going to be some sort of formal start at Wellington Motorcycles, coz if there was, it would dictate a later start, as they open later... Dunno, thought I saw that somewhere...
Paul has indicated to be on the road by 7am at the latest

everything will fall into place the tricky bit is having the two baton's join back up in Te kuti as one group will be waiting for the other, normally Sanson to NP can be done in around 2 hours as a solo rider Depending on how large the group is that will easily turn into 3-3.5 hours,

Think most of us baton carriers will be in Hawera on the 25th so will be able to nut out minor details then

I actually live in Urenui Barry, 30 mins north of NP. This would be a good place to meet up ( depending on how far north you intend to go). I'd estimate about 2.5hours from Urenui to Te

Kuiti, 3 from NP to Te Kuiti but it can vary hugely. I'd rather do it at a sensible pace, don't want anything to mar this ride and some sections can be a bit tricky if you don't know the road.

It took me 3 and a half hours yesterday, mind you the overturned Tui truck had a lot to do with it

Happy to meet anywhere from Inglewood north and go as far as .... wherever, any time on the day, just need to know rough arrival time and convenient meet point.

Since I singed up for this incredible tribute to Tony and a two fingered salute to Cancer, the Bride has also fallen victim to this most evil of diseases so I have even more reason to be

    there on the day.

    Te Kuiti to HN

Does not take long from Te Kuiti to Hn, the route Mark posted 45/50 minutes as a group.

Thinking of a meeting place in Te Kuiti, outside the railway station or down at the big shearer. The question is parking should not be a problem on a saturday pm, any local go a view?

    Looking forward to the ride.

    Cheers Kerry.
This part of the ride is your brief...
I will get in touch closer to the day and organise a time/place where those of us from up this way can meet up and ride to Te kuiti.
As for the meet place in Te Kuiti? I will have a look in ten days or so when I pass through.

That cafe on the right on the way into town (coming from north) is easy to find with stacks of parking (extra out the back if needed) and good coffee. Bosco from memory?? Sumfin like that... Don't get the Eggs Benedict though - it's shit.

Me neither! I've had EB ranging from great to sensational, but never shit. Until Bosco. Picture a couple of cold poached eggs atop soggy english muffins and cold spinach with a sauce that was closer to the consistency of water than water is. Choc chip cookie was good though to be fair. Imust admit, I did wonder how the little coffee making chap got on in a town full of farmers and rugger blokes. If he's there next weekend you'll see what I mean....

Excellent, Urenui it is then, just got to sort out a rough ETA there and we can compute an arrival time at Te Kuiti. Look forward to meeting you, any idea how many will be coming with you? might be able to source some refreshment and a toilet break thereabouts.

Will know numbers closer to the time but fellow Tomcc members seemed keen to travel part of the way with me,

Thanks Tony, it would be great to see you. I know Shafty is keen to catch up with you too. You've touched a lot of people with your plight my friend and sadly you are not alone in your fight against this evil, since signing up for this ride I have discovered a lot of people you and I know are fighting their own battles with this accursed thing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am honoured to be part of this tribute to you, your spirit and a unified two finger salute to Cancer, got a couple of Naki guys onboard so far plus a few from down south so it could be an epic adventure All the best, Mart. x
