    Naming and praising

My rear tyre spat the dummy on the forgotten highway the other day, it hadn't got long to go anyway but the shiny tar, loose gravel, dead Possums and gravel roads finally killed it.

I've recently fitted a Pilot road 3 to the front so obviously wanted a matching rear and that's where my problems started. No one in this one horse town had, or could get me, a PR3 before Christmas so no jolly holiday jaunts for me ... or so I thought.

A morning spent on the phone and interweb still couldn't bag me a PR3, every outlet I could think of from Palmy North to Hamilton were either closed or couldn't help, which is actually not uncommon for me, I always seem to want stuff nobody has.' We can order one, possibly' seems to be a compulsory part of any and every negotiation when I need stuff urgent like.

Anyway, giving up on getting my bike back together for Christmas, I found and ordered one on-line from Cycletreads in Auckland, believing that I wouldn't see it till late next week or it would be the wrong size or somat. What a surprise it was to find the tyre hanging off my gate post at 5.30 am this very morning, right size, make , model and everything, Brilliant!

Next problem, getting it fitted on Christmas eve in Nowheresville. New Plymouth Motorcycle centre had no mechanics working but recommended Simpson Tyres NP. A quick call to them and it was confirmed they could fit it but were closing in about an Hour, I'm 35 minuets out of town.

A swift drive to town and the lovely PR3 is fitted in about ten minutes and it's all systems go. The very nice gentleman whacked the wheel in my boot and when I thanked him for fitting me in and enquired about the price, he simply wished me a merry Christmas. He wouldn't even accept the price of a drink

So to all those Businesses that I've mentioned, thank you for your help and excellent customer services. I shall take this opportunity to wish all of them and all of you, a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.

Yea mate, there are some good bastards out there. And this time of the year seems to bring more of 'em out of the woodwork.
to these in the above story
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

It is, however, the industry they choose to be in. So if they're going to do it, they might as well do it right!

Yep that's good service and a good lesson for you people out there who bitch and bleat about bike shops prices etc and who "only buy off the internet"

Local shops + local buyers =local jobs.

That's the way. I keep a huge box of miscellaneous stuff at work for people that need an odd bit and need it now, a couple of weeks wait if something is leaking or hanging off the wall can be a tad annoying. If I can't help I'm always willing to refer them elsewhere (not strictly company policy) but I think it pays in the long run eh.

Here's to good cunts whatever their field, especially the boys and girls in the bike trade that try that bit harder when you need it.

Actually Mods, I've just noticed a similar thread about good v bad service, if ya wanna whack this on the end of that one feel free ta.
