Whangamata Kids Campout 6/7/8 Jan 2012
Theory: Go hard & have fun, then go home
Practice
(Kid's POV): Go hard & have fun before we have to go home
(Parent's POV): Go for a coffee before we pack up all this wet crap & go home (thank you Coffee 2 U lady!)
Notes:
Kids like mud.
Riding wet clay is not much fun.
Riding wet papa rock descents is even less fun.
Somebody has to stay unbroken so they can drive home.
Interesting how everyone was out on Friday, when it was dry (after the morning's first lap, anyway), but hardly any adults went out on Saturday in the rain. The kids gave it heaps around the 3 (3!) kids tracks, and having spent Saturday picking them out of the grass, I spent Sunday picking grass out of every nook & cranny of the 50 & 70. The kids did give "washing" a go, getting much of the mud off (and there was a LOT of mud), but the pedant gene must have passed them by...
Huge thanks to Greg Power and his happy band for putting on another great event, it's a shame the weather didn't co-operate. Roll on the next one!
