Rego question.

Suppose one was to register a bike for 12 months and then suspend that rego half way through - when there are still six months to go. If you suspended for say, three months, when the suspension was over, would you still have six months rego to run? Or would the bastards gobble it up and leave you only three? Or can you even put it on hold like that?

I see what you're trying to do, but No it doesnt work that way. The rego has an expiry date, and if you tried to put it on hold half way through, the hold date would begin from the expiry date of the current rego. Its a use it or lose it scenario.

But you can fill in a form and get a refund first then I 'spose you could put it in hold...

the only way of doing that is to surrender the plates and de register it, . Not a good option.

It is continuous registration, as said, use it up or loose it,

But once used up you can register your bike in smaller amounts of time.as in from 24hrs to 18mths and any date between that.

Hey Sub, I see you've still got the XS's. I thought the minimum period was 1 month, and the 24 hour thing was reserved for vintage vehicles (40+ years) that do under a certian milage per year. I seem to remember trying to do it a few years back on the 1100 so i could go the Vincent County rally, but i'm pretty sure I could only get a month or more. Could be wrong though, memorys fading with age.

When I put mine on hold in May it still had 20 days left, thought that would be history but when I took it off hold in October paid for 7 months but got the 20 days added on

yeah, been doing some research and it does actually work that way if theres less than 30 days to go.
