Stolen: Wellington, multi-sport Kawasaki green KLR650

    Hi all,

Had my Kawasaki KLR650 pinched from Kelburn, near Victoria University, on between 6pm Saturday 28th and 1:30am Sunday 29th.

    It is:
    -green
-has/had a home made rack on the back, made out of unfinished (shiny silver) aluminium
    -Blue hand guards
    -Road tyres
    -Black exhaust

I've not had it long (a few weeks) so was still shopping for insurance, big loss for me

If you hear / saw / know anything, I'm offering a cash reward for information that gets it back.

    Call or text Chris 022 628 3096

    Thanks guys,

    Chris B

Sorry to hear of your loss Chris. There's more motorcycle theft going on right now than I've ever seen in my time in the industry. Fucking assholes!

Lots of "just got the bike hadn't got insurance yet" lately.

Insurance takes 5 minutes to sort on the phone and if you find something cheaper a couple of days later they normally refund you the full amount so you don't lose anything.

If you buy the bike on Saturday and it gets stolen on Sunday then sure there isn't much you can do but otherwise I see no excuse for not getting it.

Are you saying getting insurance is harder than picking up the telephone?

Yeah thanks guys, I guess most have been there at some point.

As for insurance, I had an accident a few years ago, which resulted in a careless charge, so I've generally found getting insurance to be difficult. Not that I wasn't planning to, it's just it normally takes an afternoon of ringing round to find someone who would insure a learner driver with a careless driving charge, who's parking on the streets, at an affordable price. And I've just started a new job, so spare time isn't really something I have much of right now. And hindsight is awesome. And there are a lot of other coulda-woulda-shouldas that I could have done, but quel fromage.

To be honest, I'm not really holding my hopes out much. I know 2 or three others who've had cars pinched over the last 3 weeks, and in general the cops just note it down and then put it in the too hard basket (to be fair there's nothing to go on).

I'm going to talk to the security at Vic uni tomorrow, see if any of their cameras captured anything... not that it would make a difference really.

Otherwise I'll put up some "info for cash" posters, see if that gets any takers. Probably cheaper than buying a new one.
