Is there a 4 km/h tolerance this holiday season?

I haven't seen or heard anything about a drop in tolerance this year. Has anyone? Or is this the year they leave it at 9km/h and see if there's more crashes?

Nope the speed scam is 4km/h

I'm pretty sure the tolerance is always 4km/h, but they enforce it more seriously around holiday times. Go over it at your own peril.

The descretion allowed is 4km/hr. However ... a sniffer will be shoved in your face if you are stopped. And expect a short wait while the vehicle details are given. Plus a "safety" check of the vehicle (that back tyre is a bit bald sir ... thats another $150 and 20 demerits ).

Slow drivers, following distance & speed are their key focus this festive season starting as of 6am this morning I think !!

I got issued a $30 speed camera ticket on Labour Day for 5kph over the limit.
The funny thing was that I was coming back from Hampton Downs with a trailer attached so if I'd have been pulled over I would have been done for more.

I'd already spotted two cameras (both on downhill sections of the motorway) so the one that got me was well hidden.

Remember it's about road safety and not revenue. If you are speeding a ticket that arrives 3 weeks after the event will get you to slow down... (Coming up - we teach pigs to fly)

"Most practically, this sterner attitude led to the trial of a lower tolerance of speeding - down from 10km/h over legal limits to 4km/h - during holiday weekends."

4kph tolerance starts today, probably in the evening around 6pm? Ends on 4th January, probably around 6am or thereabouts. Was on the news last night.

Had you got pulled over ... demerits would also be attached.

However ... if you were "in the flow of traffic" that was travelling at 105 kms/hr ... even with a trailer ... it would have been unlikely for you to be stopped.

28 days ... and the walking starts immediately ... unless the kind-hearted cop allows (in his descretionary powers) you to ride the bike directly home.

The courts however may extend this walk ... a few more months ...

I love it when they start the 4km/hr over scam, I find a trap then loop around and hold traffic up doing 40km/hr under the limit, at first the traffic behind me hate me, but once through the trap and I do the limit they are gratefull Then when I'm bored with that trap, I drive through with my radar zapper, and job done.
