What stopping points have you found on your recent travels?

After riding the Forgotten HW,riding north from Ohura. In the back of Tekuiti, is a little cafe, Mapuia Store, worth a stop if you are on SH4, about 20ish kms from Eigt Mile Junction. Good Coffee, home made Pies.

Turangi Truck Stop. Open 24 hours from Monday morning to Friday 2am, then Friday until Sunday 2am, Sunday to 10pm, etc.

Well priced cheap good food... handy for a stop because of the hours they're open.

Norsewood Cafe. Great coffee and the Best Fruitcake In The Known Universe. Carrot cake is pretty fine too.

The Black Stump in Pahiatua. The best Friday night biker dinner to be had anywhere. The seafood laksa is just exceptional, but the rest of the menu is fantastically awesome as well.

Cafe 287 at Wairoa. A slightly longer ride for us Wellingtonians, but worth every kilometre. If you're partial to whitebait, then this is the place for you. Great coffee too.

Feeling peckish in Gisborne? Then drop into the Lonestar. Even Miss Piggy would approve of the pork at this place. They also do a pretty good margarita.

I only really stop when I have to refill the tank or when I can't hold my bladder any longer. I don't understand why people would want to spending good riding time posing at cafes, pubs, and tourist traps.

Favourite spots in the South Island are Fleur's Place at Moeraki and The Station Cafe at Domett. Both got great atmospheres and delicious food at reasonable prices.

    Locally (more or less):
    @ Opunake, Sugarjuice
    @ PioPio, The Fat Pigeon
    @ TeKuiti, Bosco's
@ Pirongia, not sure what it's called but it's about opposite the War Memorial Hall.

In the Catlins, The Whistling Frog

    On a more upmarket note:
    II Chefs in Hawera
    Bella's in Palmerston North.

Last but not least a plug for my local, The Ugly Duck

Was at the Lavender Farm on the Taumarunui end over Christmas - awesome spot. You can walk down to the Whanganui River too.
