    '07 R6

Anyone heard anything about them? Was at Waikato Yamaha looking at HJC helmets and turning in a CV. Started talking to the salesmen about bikes and such(as you do) And got on to the R6. Seems that the '07 model will have underseat pipes like the R1 aswell as afewother upgrades.

Well, whatever it is, I'm sure it will be sexiness.

The R6 doesn't do it for me as much as the R1 does, though. I think it's just the seat/exhaust.

No idea matey - but I'm pretty sure they are all (all the 600's) going to have under seat pipes and be around the 600+ mark like the Daytona 650 and that Kawasaki that we both want....

Bring it on!! By the time I'm ready to buy one of those new the hardest problem will be choosing a bike - What a great problem to have

I like the pointier nose aswell. Current R6's have this goofy mouth looking thing. Still like the 636 better. Just kinda curious if any of this speculation is true or not.

Hehe deciding factor for me might be the seat. Sitting on the R6 is like riding a piece of wood.

Said the bloke riding the 1980s cruiser with the tank that points at the sky. I thought, or is it beyond your attention span, that we'd agreed not to dis each other's rides on Kiwibiker?

The R6 is the 2nd most comfortable of the current crop of 600 supersports. I've tried all of them. The 636 literally crushed my nuts. The CBR600 seat IS a plank of wood. The GSXR600 is a very nice riding position, but I like MY bike. Thanks.

For what it's worth, underseat exhausts are an impractical pain in the arse.

Wasn't an insult mate, just my thoughts on it. It may have just been that the seat wasa bit wide for my skinny arse. I can always get a custom seat or being the wannabe biker DIY guy that I am I can make my own. Even have designs stitched into it. And my bike was made in '93, hardly and '80s cruiser.

Jealousy. Yup. For those with underseat exhausts when I exhume my camera, cellphone, wets, and packed lunch from the storage area under my pillion seat that tHEY don't have.

    Nyahhh

I'd have to go with Jim on this one....

I saw Zapf with his CB400 pack his entire wet weather gear under his seat and he's a big fella and I think he had other stuff there too. I can't speak highly enough about the convenience of having some place to stash stuff....

Good point...I hadn't thought about that.

The CBR doesn't have a boot and it is a pain...I got a small tank bag to overcome that problem.
I was in Motorad yesterday looking at the 636 and I notice that the front part of the tank is plastic so the tank bag would be useless.

Must be a financial thing. My camera is in my phone which is in my pocket. I only ever buy lunch, and am hard enough to ride through rain showers without wets (or smart enough to drive if it's long distance and/or have the handbrake......ahem mrs. along for the ride)

....will be interesting to see what the gixxers style rating is like when (if) they stick their pipes under-ass.
    Because I can...

    Re the R6

well, not too keen on dissing OPBs, My own feelings are well known re underseat exhuasts, I have had two R6s from new ,love the bike, am currently looking at the 05, I guess its a matter of what You like in a bike, I am not keen on the whole under seat thing, and if and when the R6 goes that way, I won't buy one, but thats just me.

as for comfort, I often ride 8 -9 hours on day trips, and have no discomfort at all, and as a few of the youngins like to point out, I am getting on a bit(apparently).

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.
