LAMs bike compliance?

Can anyone tell me if the Kawasaki ninja EX250 cc is or is not a prohibited bike in the upcoming LAMs bikes commencing on 1st October....the LTSA website is not clear and when I called office, not a single person could clarify one way or another.
Have a acquired a bike that no one will want???? cheers

Check the PROHIBITED list. If it features there ... you have your answer.

I think they will know which ones you are NOT allowed.

The bikes on the LAM's list are mostly OVER 250cc. (apart from a few 250's that are forbidden)

Hi, thanks for feedback.....no, my bike doesn't end in any of those named suffixes.
I understand it must not exceed 150 kwh per tonne....so I'm sure it will be fine.

Bike 250cc and under are allowed unless they are banned (2 stroke race reps)
But i dont think you need to worry about your ninja getting over 150kw/t

Honda NSR250 (all models and variants) 250
Kawasaki KR1 (all models and variants) 250
Suzuki RGV250 (all models and variants) 250

Applying to have a motorcycle added to the Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme list:

If there is a motorcycle you believe should be on the LAMS-approved list and it fits the primary criteria of being under 660cc and less than 150 kilowatts per tonne, you will need to submit a formal application to the NZTA for consideration. Vehicle specifications for the motorcycle should be gathered from your motorcycle manufacturer.

It is your responsibility to ensure you are riding a LAMS-approved motorcycle, as produced by the manufacturer. If in doubt, seek confirmation from the manufacturer’s agent or dealership. If you are unsure who to contact, details for all major motorcycle importers are available on the Motor Industry Association website http://www.mia.org.nz/members.asp
