No problem, flyindutchman posted the map for you. Unfortunatley I am now a Wellingtonian, however my uncle rides a CBR600 who still lives on that road. I will speak to him and get his thoughts on the quality of it for speed record purposes. From memory (about 10 years ago now) it is perfectly straight for 11kms but there are a few side roads some of which may have a bit of traffic (which may cause consent issues). Other than than, I don't remember any major problems other than it is not the widest road and yeah there may be camber issues but will check.

Lightbulb What about an airport runway?

Sorry if this has already been suggested but I was thinking about it today and can't be arsed reading back through all the other posts.

That would fall too short, the worlds longest runway is a whopping 5km at Ulyanovsk-Vostochny International Airport in Russia!

And that was today's useless piece of information.

Yes, that would do it at 8.2296 kilometers!! Sorry, the Russian one is the longest 'commercial' airport. Pity neither of them are in NZ.

Hey Kickaha, I live on the road that Ray Williams tried to set the NZ land speed record on in 1996 in his Porsche 930 Turbo. All was going really well until a rear tire blew!!!. The road is Goudies Road in Reporoa (mid way between Rotorua & Taupo) and it has been used a number of times by various groups in an attempt to break various records. The Road is dead straight for just over 7 kilometres from memory.

Seven mile Road would prob be suitable

Heres what I can tell you abouts its condition. (I use to live there and my parents still do. I was down there last weekend)

7 miles flat and strait road, reasonable wide marked 2 lane sealed road. ditches on both sides 2 -4 m back from road edge for most the length of the road. Where there are power poles they are usually on the far sides of the ditches.

some small sections of the road would prob need repaired/ cleaned where cattle have crossed.

camber is constant but may cause u problems I not certian. What could I look for/ tell to work out if this is likely to be an issue.

The road use to get closed for 1 day a year for the flying quarter mile so hopefully consent should not be an issue.

I could give more details about the people/land owners for consent but would rather not in a public foreum

Yeah, I was thinking of that seven mile road at Oamaru too. And it's actually called 'Seven Mile Road' in case anyone is wondering.
I'm not sure of the condition of the road now but I do recall years ago that the local car club organised 1/4 mile sprints along part of it. I don't think you'll have any worries with the gradient. Flat as.

absolutely no worry with gradient. it does have a reasonable camber to allow for good water drainage though
