    Auckland riding

Hey guys ive been riding in wellington for the last couple of years with no problems watsoever (not even the wind) just wanting to ask what it is like to ride in auckland as i am moving up in a months time, im more concerned with car drivers then anything and their lack of respect and awareness of others on the road.

Ride assertively but not offensively, and stay aware. Other than that it's much the same as any major city.

Figuring out your way around is the hardest part, once you have that it's tickety boo. Just like any other busy city except that the lanes on the motorway are reversed, the outside lane is for family vans so therefore the slow lane..

It's just like any other part of NZ, but with traffic.
Slow down west bound, speed up heading south.

Been riding around the city for 5 years.
In general motorists are fairly considerate but the standard of driving is fairly low.
You'll be fine so long as you work on the rule that everyone else is a moron and you expect them to do the dumbest thing possible.
Occasionaly you are pleasantly surprised and someone looks up from their phone long enough to glance in your direction before pulling out.
More often than not they'll drive as if you are not there forcing you to work around them.

    That's a fair summation.
I'd just add that on the motorway/s they are even worse...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

A city is a city ... what you expect?

Seriously, same old same old just a different city.

FYI, The worst driving I have ever encountered was in Te Awamutu! Dunno if thats got anything to do with the high percentage of retirees living there?
...it is better to live 1 day as a Tiger than 1000 years as a sheep...
