I'd be flushing the coolant and checking the thermostat and fan are operating OK.

Checked coolant tank and the level was at the minimum, maybe even slightly below. I topped up with soft water. Hope that solves the problem... I'll know the next time similar conditions arise...

While it is really hot, don't turn the engine off or stall it. There is some sort of temperature sensor over-ride on the starting circuit. Manifests in sluggish turnover of the starter. Like a flattish battery.
