    Bear Hits Motorcycle

It must be Summer again in the US, as reports of collisions with large animals are starting to roll in.

Two Pennsylvanians were flown to trauma centres after a bear hit their motorcycle, causing it to crash.

Jeffrey Herlling and his pillion Rachael Maleski were riding the motorcycle when the bear ran across the road and hit the front of the bike, causing Herlling to lose control, said state police.

The bear continued running into the woods after the accident.

Personally, it amazes me that the citizens of the US of A are SO incapable of spotting - and indeed missing - something as large as a bear!

If you don't want to read the item, don't open it. It is not as if I cover up the content of the item by using a "Shock! Horror!" style heading, is it?

So pass it by - there will always be someone who wants to read it. Take a look at the top 10 read and replied to lists in the "Happy 1st Birthday" post - there are things in there I'd never have expected to be so popular.

As someone once said "You can't please all the people all of the time".

And one final note... I was searching for something the other day and found the previous attempts at a news page. Didn't quite come off as well as this one, did it? By and large I think I achieve the aims of getting news - and interesting news - in here. Pretty much single handed. Which X hundreds of members, well, didn't really get together as coherently, did they?

Yes, I could find something else to do with my time...

Yeah well the last thing we need in NZ is BEARS!!

I was run into by an idiot while I was driving a marked Police car so what makes you think anybody in THIS country would miss a bear????

Keep up the news - but a bit more relevant to Kiwi land would be better!!!!

That is better - wildlife tales (unless bizarre) shall be kept to the minimum.

All in the style of asking. Swear at me and I react badly (after all, not as if I get paid for this, is it?) - ask nicely and I'll take notice...

As for bears, I'm still expecting someone to re-introduce them over here. Admittedly it is normally by accident, but we've got all kinds of wildlife roaming over here.

Wild boars escaped in Kent and are thriving. We have parakeets in southern England (one lot not too far from me in east London) and... this is the one that gets me... WALLABIES in Derbyshire! They escaped from a zoo about 100 years ago, everyone thought they'd die in the Winter... but they've been successful enough to survive and there is a colony of them out there somewhere...

We've got wallabies down this part of NZ too, I've given them a big rev-up with my AK47 with 30 round mag (no shit) but there are as many around as ever.
Never mind, it could have been moose or bear....

    Or worse still, politicians....

There are rumours of moose in the South Island.

Mind you, there are rumours of Moas too.

Not to forget giant flying eagles and big foot.
Forgot which, but one of the Islands has got a large black panther too.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

Are the possums as thick as ever? When I lived in Turangi they were all over the roads.

Yup! When I'm on the road at night, I get on average 3-4 and about 6 Hares.
It's easier getting them with the truck than on a bike. those Possums just wanna stand up and look at ya.
