Couldn't Rego the bike if I wanted to...

I really love this rule about having a current WOF before you can reg the bike.

WOF expired mid January, but failed inspection (before it expired) because the headlight was aiming too high. Taking it to the shop resulted in the headlight being diagnosed as faulty so a new one was ordered. It arrived late last week, they went to fit it a couple of days ago... it had arrived pre-broken. So another is ordered.

In the meanwhile, my rego is expiring in the middle of this month... may as well chuck some more on... oh wait... I can't. My WOF isn't current (although it's inside that 30 day compliance thing)...

Nick Smith personally smashed the light at the courier depot. He did it off the books late at night and had the SIS disable all the cameras so he wouldnt be caught.

Don't worry about it. With continious licencing you're always registered even if you haven;t quite got around to paying the fee *yet*. That's my take on it

    Strange but true

yep it's a wank system. even more wank that WOF isn't even valid for 6mths as advertised, try getting a vehicle licence in the last month before "expiry"... it ain't happening

You have 12 month to renew the rego' ... before it removed from records on the computer ....

I think it can be put on hold if payments are made to bring it up to date at the same time ...

I'd try putting it on hold for a month.

Question: does insurance pay out if your rego is out of date? I would think they don't if WOF is out, but not sure about rego.

If you are going to "a place of repair" for the purpose of getting a WOF prior to Rego paid ... IS legal. Therefore ... it should be covered by insurance.

Insurance Law Reform Act 1977, Section 11

A claim can not be declined due to something that was not causative or contributory to the reason for the claim.

Neither lack of current vehicle licence, nor lack of wof is a get out of jail free card for your insurer, they are bits of paper, moments in time, they do not cause accidents in general.

Equally, just having a WOF is not going to get the insurance to pay out because your bald ass tyres let you run off the road.

Do a search if you really want to read the arguments, it's been done to death in ACC threads.

No point... expires mid Feb, I want to be at Paeroa on it, plus I've got a big trip to the South Island almost right after it...

Besides... I bought last January at 4000km, now it sits at 41,000km. I didn't do that with the rego on hold and it sitting in the garage!

    So what's your problem?
Just wait for the part, get it fitted, get wof, get rego.
It's not going to cost you any more.
