    Seat help: BMW 2008 K1200GT or 2009-11 K1300GT

    Hi there...

The seat on the K1200GT changed in 08 and remained the same on the K1300GT's all the way thru to end-of-model. I have ridden for several days on both and found the early K1200GT seats were unbearable, while the later 1200 and the K1300GT seat was quite bearable (for me).

I have just bought a late 08 K1200GT and found that the seat, while it is the later '1300' style, has been modified to remove some layers. This was because the previous owner was a rather short bloke and (the remainder is presumption...) wanted minimal seat thickness. I have found this bike's seat to be better than the early K12 seat but not as comfy as the K13 seat.

This Saturday I am popping down to Tauranga to get it fixed at Mac's, but I would like some appreciation of the true thickness of the standard K1300 seat since mine has been modified.

Is there an 08 K1200GT or K1300GT owner in the Auckland area I could pop over to see after work this week and try a sit/measure so I have a baseline of some sort for the job on Saturday?

    TIA.

Visited the US last week and got a Russell Daylong seat in New York. Brought home as luggage.
