    Valley Rd Hawkes Bay?

Anyone care to give a bit of info on this place?

Am new to off road riding and have found scraps of info when searching for places to ride, am a late starter and just picked up a cheap XR400 to do some trail rides with friends.

What I want is somewhere (other than Guppy rd) to go and practice in a relatively safe environment, no fences and hidden obstacles.

    Few questions,

    Can anyone go there?
    What does it cost?
Is it any good for an old tank XR400?............I'm not wanting to learn to jump, jumping scares the shit outta me hahaa.
Will I piss people off by being a slow old bastard?

Have been mainly road riding and raced for a couple of years but a dirt bike needs almost the complete opposite rules that I'm used to, so somewhere that would allow me to "relearn" would be cool.

Hi Tony, as far as I am aware Valley Rd is a permanently set up motocross track on private land, which is accessed by the Hawkes Bay Motorcycle Club.
Best bet to get into dirtriding is to join the club and go on their organised trailrides. trailrides, they are heaps of fun.

Valley Road aint that bad for the jumps etc. Look out for a CHB motocross, theyre natural terrain usually and alot fo fun, advertised in friday's paper or on the HB club's site: http://hbmc.org.nz/
There is a track down Chesterhope Bridge, but you have to watch out for everyone riding all over the place down the riverbank. I dont like it for that fact alone. Check out this link for up coming trail rides: http://www.silverbullet.co.nz/events.php

So the ground will be quite wet out there (read slippery) this weekend so you will be running tyre pressures so low you will be finding out what the rim locks are for, and you will be tell us exactly how much mud a XR400 will collect and carry round.
Enjoy the ride, I wish i was there.

Just been talked into doing VMX (twin shock) motocross, over a beer this afternoon (while I was out walking the dog), hmmm, apparently there is none in the bay so a bit of travel, oh well I will have to walk the talk.
