Parking your bike at a mall

Ok so, I have been going to Glenfield mall to do my shopping for more than a few years now and parking my bike as conveniently as possible. Out of the way of everyone, I always make sure that its not going to block anyones route to and from their car-parking spaces. For the first time ever ! I had a security guard approach me and tell me that I can't park there. I understand the rules are the rules so, im not going to argue. Even after I do my best to explain that by parking here I'm leaving a free parking space for someone else to use. I'm not having a bitch and a moan. Just seems so stupid that I should occupy a whole parking space when I dont have too.
Like I say, Ive been going there for years, even walked past other security guards in the car-park and never had an issue before. Now it appears to be an issue.
    Just putting it out there.

Is there no designated motorcycle parking area? Must be a new mall cop. Ah well, what can you do? Guess you just have to do what they ask

I used to work at the pools in the Leisure Centre, just across the other side of the parking at Glenfield... You can park your bike outside the front door of the Leisure Centre (to the left of the door by the wall outside the cafe) and it won't be bothered by anyone. A few of our regular customers park their bikes there too. Much safer than leaving your pride and joy in the parking building at the mall, there were a lot of cars broken into there when I was there...

If you ever needed to talk to anyone at the Leisure Centre to confirm it's okay to park your bike there, ask for James Young, he's the facility manager, say Scott Patterson sent you. He's a really nice guy, and a good friend of mine.

There is a dedicated parking spot if you take the Bentley Rd entrance to the mall and take the 1st right into the underground carpark. Then make a beeline for the escalator entrance, you,ll see the parking spot right next to a speedbump about 5m from the doors.

First it was Wilson carpark late last year. Then Tournament carpark early this year.
    Now Westfield.

What's with the sudden vindication against motorcycle parking nowadays?

Bollocks to parking tight and out of the way!

    1. Paying almost $600 for rego says I get a big space

    2. Having had 2 bikes hit by cars in bike parks says bike parks aren't safe

    3. Getting a parking ticket for parking off road, out of the way, no obstruction to traffic or pedestrians in a shitty back street in Auckland taught me to park it legally albeit selfishly.

When it comes to car parks, I work on the principle that, if I were in the wagon, I would occupy a whole space anyway. The fact that I am on the bike makes no difference to the fact that I need a space for however long. So I use a car space.

Besides, last time I looked at dedicated bike spaces, some fucker had parked his car in there anyway...sauce for the goose, y'know...

Agreed. On top of all that if you park in a non designated spot and summat happens to your ride, your or the malls insurance might use that to tell you to get stuffed.

People look twice at me food shopping when I wheel a shopping trolley up to my bike. I can get a lot in my top box.
