    3. Getting a parking ticket for parking off road, out of the way, no obstruction to traffic or pedestrians in a shitty back street in Auckland taught me to park it legally albeit selfishly.
Yep, stick it in a parking space, you are entitled to do so.

Pays to be careful parking in car spots, too many fendalton tractor drivers swing into a seemingly empty park at speed, if your bike was in that park but obscured by the vehicles either side...

Yup, "provide justification or support for" but "against".

I've always found plenty of space on the level that has two entrances facing each other just before you go down the escalator to the foodcourt. Just to the side of those entrances, it's out of peoples way. I probably would have said ok to the security gaurd, then rode to the other side and parked it up where he cant see you.

I had a security guard approach me and tell me that I can't park there. I understand the rules are the rules so, im not going to argue. Even after I do my best to explain that by parking here I'm leaving a free parking space for someone else to use. I'm not having a bitch and a moan. Just seems so stupid that I should occupy a whole parking space when I dont have too.
Like I say, Ive been going there for years, even walked past other security guards in the car-park and never had an issue before. Now it appears to be an issue.
    Just putting it out there.
I know that bike. Seriously you should park it in a garage. (talking about what I'm assuming is your home, not the mall)

    A spot at Sylvia Park

If you are looking for a spot at Sylvia Park I find there's a good spot out the back - in car park 3 I think it is. I go to the Post Shop a bit with my trademe stuff and it's out the back door there under cover. If you turn in from the street side go straight ahead past the carwash and you will see three bars set up for bicycles in front of you. I find there's always room there between the bicycle park and the next car. It's under cover and out of the rain which is sometimes good when you get sick of it leaking through the bike gear or if you have packages you don't want to get wet.

Yeah, what he said. There's a triangular shaped area down there. I always park Parallel to speedbump, or perpendicular to it though. Get some interesting scooter parking going on there sometimes, screwing it up for anyone else who wants to use it.
