I was there last week and there's at least two I saw - one on Carlyle St in Sydenham, about five doors down from my work (the Triumph dealers), and there's another one on the road out to the Junction in Riccarton.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
- James Dickey, Cherrylog Road.
There are a few left Rolling Thunder Harley, Avon City Suzuki, Trevor Pierce Yamaha, Norjo Kawasaki, Street & Sport Triumph, Hampton Honda, Casbolts Honda, BMW have merged with BMW Cars.
Radical choppers moved to Kaiapoi.
I could be wrong (frequently are) but I didn't think any bike shops had permanently closed as a result of the earthquakes
Sportzone Suzuki and Just Motorcycles closed their doors for good.
'Just Motorcycles' in New Brighton? They certainly didn't reopen after Feb 22 although there may have been other factors at play too. Ran into Ian the other at Hampton Honda and I guess I'll be throwing some business Roger's way too as he's not too far away from home and a knowledgable mechanic.
Grow older but never grow up
Wasn't there a small bike shop or 2 on Manchester St a few shops North of Casbolts that hasn't reopened anywhere?
Crn of ensors rd and ferry road, where the sunrise factory wa, is a BMW shop
Linwood Yamaha is still in linwood ave selling lyfins
There is that fella up Waterloo road, doing srviceing, but not sales, Dale?
Budget Mot0r cycles spares still going
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.
Jimmy the mechanic ho used to work on the Beemers at BM Rides in Ferry Rd set up a workshop there. People take their bikes to him coz the BM dealer took two BMW car mechanics, and overnight turned them into bike mechanics. Yeah right.
The workshop you mention is BMS, Jimmy runs it.
Don at Pit Lane disappeared from Manchester St too. Apparently he works a day or two a week from a workshop in Darfield. That might be the Manch St one you mention that went missing.
....Don is fully up and running at Darfield and still doing the best deals on tyres and other stuff you may need...he is open weekends and has a couple of weekdays off ....
DAS largely unaffected doing Dirt & road stuff suspension etc in Saxon st surprisingly close to CBD.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
